### Find titles by name

Look up full Encyclopedia entries by title name instead of by id. This matches a title's main name only. To search alternative titles too, use Search titles.

Get an anime title's full Encyclopedia entry by its id: titles, genres, themes, vintage, episode list, plot summary, ratings, cast, staff, companies, news, reviews, releases, and artwork.

### Get manga

### Get multiple titles

Get full Encyclopedia entries for several anime or manga in a single request. Anime News Network allows up to 50 ids per call, which is much kinder to their servers than looping one title at a time.

### Get title

Get a title's full Encyclopedia entry by its id when you don't know whether the id belongs to an anime or a manga.

**Inputs**

- Title ID (`title_id`, text, required): The Encyclopedia id of an anime or a manga (for example, 4658). You can also paste its page URL.

### List people by kanji name

List Encyclopedia people with their romaji and kanji names, optionally filtered by kanji given name or kanji family name.

**Inputs**

- Kanji family name (`kanji_family_name`, text): Only return people whose recorded kanji family name is exactly this (for example, 楊). Leave blank for all.
- Kanji given name (`kanji_given_name`, text): Only return people whose recorded kanji given name is exactly this (for example, 愛華). Leave blank for all.
- Number of rows (`limit`, number): How many rows to return, from 1 to 500. Defaults to 50. From 1 to 500. Default: `50`.

### List ratings

List titles rated by Anime News Network readers, best rated first, with the vote count and weighted score behind each ranking.

**Inputs**

- Media type (`media_type`, text, required): Whether to rank anime or manga. One of: `anime`, `manga`. Default: `anime`.
- Number of rows (`limit`, number): How many rows to return, from 1 to 500. Defaults to 50. From 1 to 500. Default: `50`.
- Rows to skip (`skip`, number): How many rows to skip before returning results. Use it with the row count to page through a long report (0, then 50, then 100, ...). From 0 to 1000000. Default: `0`.

List the anime most recently added to the Encyclopedia, newest first, with the date each was added.

**Inputs**

**Inputs**

List the people (voice actors, directors, writers, artists) most recently added to the Encyclopedia, newest first.

**Inputs**

- Number of rows (`limit`, number): How many rows to return, from 1 to 500. Defaults to 50. From 1 to 500. Default: `50`.
- Rows to skip (`skip`, number): How many rows to skip before returning results. Use it with the row count to page through a long report (0, then 50, then 100, ...). From 0 to 1000000. Default: `0`.

### List titles

Page through every anime and manga in the Encyclopedia, newest first, optionally narrowed to one media type, to titles starting with given text, or to licensed/unlicensed titles. This is the report to use to build or refresh a local title database.

**Inputs**

- Media type (`media_type`, text): Limit results to anime or to manga. Leave blank for both. One of: `anime`, `manga`.
- Title starts with (`name_starts_with`, text): Only return titles whose main title starts with this text (for example, Z). Leave blank for all titles.
- Licensing (`licensed`, text): Only return titles that have been licensed for release outside Japan, or only those that have not. Leave blank for both. One of: `yes` (Licensed only), `no` (Unlicensed only).
- Number of rows (`limit`, number): How many rows to return, from 1 to 500. Defaults to 50. From 1 to 500. Default: `50`.

### Run report

Run any of Anime News Network's Encyclopedia reports by name and get its rows back. Use this for the reports without a dedicated action, such as anime series length, titles with several plot summaries or pictures, and the Encyclopedia FAQ.

**Inputs**

- Report (`report_id`, text, required): Which Encyclopedia report to run. One of: `148` (Recently added anime (#148)), `149` (Recently added manga (#149)), `150` (Recently added people (#150)), `151` (Recently added companies (#151)), `155` (API: Anime/Manga List (#155)), `236` (API: Anime/Manga Search (#236)), `165` (People by Kanji Name (#165)), `172` (Ratings (anime) (#172)), `173` (Ratings (manga) (#173)), `177` (Anime series length (#177)), and 10 more.
- Number of rows (`limit`, number): How many rows to return, from 1 to 500. Defaults to 50. From 1 to 500. Default: `50`.

- Extra filters (`parameters`, object): Optional report-specific filters, as name/value pairs (for example, type = anime). Most reports need none; the report's page on Anime News Network lists any it accepts.

### Search titles

Search the Encyclopedia for anime and manga whose main or alternative title contains your search text. Returns one row per title with its id, type, name, and vintage, feed an id into Get title for the full entry.

**Inputs**

- Search text (`search`, text, required): Text to look for in a title's main or alternative titles (for example, gundam).
- Media type (`media_type`, text): Limit results to anime or to manga. Leave blank for both. One of: `anime`, `manga`.
- Title starts with (`name_starts_with`, text): Only return titles whose main title starts with this text (for example, Z). Leave blank for all titles.
- Licensing (`licensed`, text): Only return titles that have been licensed for release outside Japan, or only those that have not. Leave blank for both. One of: `yes` (Licensed only), `no` (Unlicensed only).
