## Actions

### Get author papers

List papers by a given author, newest first by default. The name is matched as a phrase against arXiv's author field.

**Inputs**

- Author name (`author`, text, required): The author to look up (for example, Yoshua Bengio). Multi-word names are matched as a phrase.
- Number of results (`max_results`, number): How many papers to return (1–100). Defaults to 10. From 1 to 100.
- Sort by (`sort_by`, text): How to order results. Defaults to submitted date. One of: `relevance`, `lastUpdatedDate` (Last updated date), `submittedDate` (Submitted date).
- Sort order (`sort_order`, text): Sort direction. Defaults to descending. One of: `descending` (Descending (newest first)), `ascending` (Ascending (oldest first)).
- Start offset (`start`, number): Zero-based offset into the results, for paging. Defaults to 0. At least 0.

**Outputs**

- `author` (text)
- `result_count` (number)
- `results` (list)
- `start_index` (number)
- `total_results` (number)

**Example output**

```json
{
  "author": "Ashish Vaswani",
  "result_count": 1,
  "results": [
    {
      "abs_url": "http://arxiv.org/abs/1706.03762v7",
### Get paper
Fetch a single paper's metadata by its arXiv id (for example 2101.00001 or 1706.03762v7). A full arxiv.org abstract or PDF URL is also accepted.
**Inputs**
- Paper ID (`paper_id`, text, required): The arXiv id of the paper. Accepts a bare id, an 'arXiv:' prefix, or a full arxiv.org URL.
**Outputs**
- `paper` (object)
**Example output**
```json
{
  "paper": {
    "abs_url": "http://arxiv.org/abs/1706.03762v7",
    "authors": [
      "Ashish Vaswani",

### Search papers

Search arXiv for papers. The query supports arXiv's field prefixes (ti: for title, au: for author, abs: for abstract, cat: for category, all: for everything) and the AND, OR, and ANDNOT operators. A plain phrase searches all fields.

**Inputs**

- Search query (`query`, text, required): What to search for. Use plain text to search all fields, or field prefixes like ti: and au: for a targeted search.
- Number of results (`max_results`, number): How many papers to return (1–100). Defaults to 10. From 1 to 100.
- Sort by (`sort_by`, text): How to order results. Defaults to relevance. One of: `relevance`, `lastUpdatedDate` (Last updated date), `submittedDate` (Submitted date).
- Sort order (`sort_order`, text): Sort direction. Defaults to descending. One of: `descending` (Descending (newest first)), `ascending` (Ascending (oldest first)).
- Start offset (`start`, number): Zero-based offset into the results, for paging through large result sets. Defaults to 0. At least 0.

**Outputs**

- `result_count` (number)
- `results` (list)
- `start_index` (number)
- `total_results` (number)

**Example output**
