# Placebear

> Pictures of bears to stand in for the images you do not have yet. Ask Placebear for a width and a height and it hands back a bear at exactly that size: the placeholder for a mock-up, a demo email, a seeded test database or a design draft. Take one picture, or one for every slot in a layout in a single step, in colour or in black and white, as a link to embed or as a file to attach. No account or API key required.

## Actions

### Get a bear picture

Get a picture of a bear at exactly the size you need, as a link ready to drop into an email, a web page or a record: the placeholder to reach for while the real image is still on its way. Ask for it in black and white, and turn on saving when a later step needs the file itself. No account or API key required.

**Inputs**

- Width (`width`, number): How wide the picture should be, in pixels. 600 by default; anything up to 2000. From 1 to 2000. Default: `600`.
- Height (`height`, number): How tall the picture should be, in pixels. 400 by default; anything up to 2000. Clear it and you get a square picture, as wide and as tall as the width above. From 1 to 2000. Default: `400`.
- Black and white (`black_and_white`, true/false): Turn this on for a black-and-white picture instead of colour. Default: `false`.
- Also save the picture as a file (`save_as_file`, true/false): Off by default, because a link is all an email or a web page needs. Turn it on when a later step needs the file itself: attaching it to an email, uploading it to storage, or posting it into a chat. Default: `false`.

**Outputs**

- `black_and_white` (true/false): Whether the picture was asked for in black and white.
- `content_type` (text): The saved file's media type. Empty when the picture was not saved.
- `document_ref` (text): The saved file's reference, for a step that attaches or uploads it. Empty when the picture was not saved.
- `documents` (list): The saved picture, ready to attach to a later step. Empty unless 'Also save the picture as a file' was turned on.
- `file_url` (text): A URL that serves the saved copy. Empty when the picture was not saved. This is not the picture's own address on placebear.com, which is 'url'.
- `height` (number): How tall the picture is, in pixels.
- `image_tag` (text): The same link as a ready-made HTML <img> tag, sized and with alt text, for a step that writes an email body or a web page.
- `saved_as_file` (true/false): Whether a copy of the picture was saved as a file.
- `size_bytes` (number): The saved file's size in bytes. 0 when the picture was not saved.
- `url` (text): The picture's address on placebear.com, ready to paste into an email, a web page or a record, or to use as an image source.
- `width` (number): How wide the picture is, in pixels.

**Example output**

```json
{
  "black_and_white": false,
  "content_type": "",
  "document_ref": "",
  "documents": [],
  "file_url": "",
  "height": 400,
  "image_tag": "<img src=\"https://placebear.com/600/400\" alt=\"Placeholder picture of a bear\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\">",
  "saved_as_file": false,
  "size_bytes": 0,
  "url": "https://placebear.com/600/400",
  "width": 600
}
```

### Get bear pictures for a list of sizes

Give this a list of sizes and get one bear picture for each, in the order they were given: the banner, the cards and the avatars of a mock-up, filled in one step. Nothing is fetched, so a long list costs no more than a short one. No account or API key required.

**Inputs**

- Sizes (`sizes`, list, required): The sizes to get pictures for, one picture each, in the order given, written as width x height, for example 1200x400. A single number makes a square. Up to 100 at a time. Type them in, or wire a list in from an earlier step.
- Black and white (`black_and_white`, true/false): Turn this on for a black-and-white picture instead of colour. Default: `false`.

**Outputs**

- `black_and_white` (true/false): Whether the picture was asked for in black and white.
- `count` (number): How many pictures were built.
- `pictures` (list): One entry per size, in the order they were given.
- `urls` (list): Just the links, in the same order, for a step that wants the addresses on their own.

**Example output**

```json
{
  "black_and_white": false,
  "count": 2,
  "pictures": [
    {
      "height": 400,
      "image_tag": "<img src=\"https://placebear.com/1200/400\" alt=\"Placeholder picture of a bear\" width=\"1200\" height=\"400\">",
      "url": "https://placebear.com/1200/400",
      "width": 1200
    },
    {
      "height": 96,
      "image_tag": "<img src=\"https://placebear.com/96/96\" alt=\"Placeholder picture of a bear\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\">",
      "url": "https://placebear.com/96/96",
      "width": 96
    }
  ],
  "urls": [
    "https://placebear.com/96/96"
  ]
}
