# qrtag.net

> Make a QR code for a link with qrtag.net, to show on a screen right away: in a chat, on a slide or in an email. Choose PNG or SVG, a transparent background and the size. The code opens a qrtag.net link that forwards to your address, and qrtag.net says it keeps that link for 3 days, so it's made for sharing now, not for print. Every code is read back before it's saved, so a code qrtag.net refused to make properly (some sites, such as google.com, are blocked) is reported instead of saved. No account or API key required.

## Actions

### Check where a qrtag.net link goes

Find out where a qrtag.net link (the link inside a qrtag.net QR code) forwards to, and whether it still works. qrtag.net says it keeps these links for 3 days, so use this before sharing an older code again. The destination is read without visiting it. No account or API key required.

**Inputs**

- qrtag.net link (`qrtag_url`, text, required): The qrtag.net link to check, such as the one a Create a QR code for a link step returns.

**Outputs**

- `destination_url` (text): Where the link forwards to now. Empty when it no longer works.
- `qrtag_url` (text): The qrtag.net link that was checked.
- `still_works` (true/false): Whether the link still forwards somewhere. qrtag.net says it keeps these links for 3 days.

**Example output**

```json
{
  "destination_url": "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code",
  "qrtag_url": "https://www.qrtag.net/api/degdbf2h",
  "still_works": true
}
```

### Create a QR code for a link

Turn a web address into a QR code image to show on a screen straight away: in a chat, a slide or an email. The code opens a qrtag.net link that forwards to your address, and qrtag.net says it keeps that link for 3 days, so don't use it for anything printed. Each code is checked before it's saved, so you get the link it opens and where that goes. Some sites, such as google.com, are blocked by qrtag.net. No account or API key required.

**Inputs**

- Link (`url`, text, required): The web address the code should open. Anything after a # is dropped by qrtag.net.
- File type (`file_type`, text): PNG suits email, chat and the web. SVG stays sharp at any size. One of: `png` (PNG image, for email, chat and the web), `svg` (SVG vector, stays sharp at any size). Default: `png`.
- Transparent background (`transparent`, true/false): Leave out the white background and margin, so only the code's dark squares are drawn. Place it on a light background or it won't scan. Default: `false`.
- Size (`size`, number): How many pixels wide each square of the code is, from 2 to 60. At 10, a typical code is about 310 pixels across. From 2 to 60. Default: `10`.
- Save as (`filename`, text): Optional. The name to save the image under. Named after the link's website by default, e.g. en-wikipedia-org-qr-code.png.

**Outputs**

- `content_type` (text): File type of the saved QR code.
- `destination_url` (text): Where the code's link forwards to, as qrtag.net reported it just now.
- `document_ref` (text): Reference to the saved QR code, for use by a later step.
- `documents` (list): The QR code image, in the shape steps that send or upload files expect.
- `filename` (text): Name the QR code was saved under.
- `opens_url` (text): The qrtag.net link the code holds. Scanning the code opens this link, which forwards to your link. qrtag.net says it keeps it for 3 days.
- `size_bytes` (number): Size of the saved QR code in bytes.
- `url` (text): Download link for the saved QR code.

**Example output**

  "content_type": "image/png",
  "destination_url": "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code",
