# Remote OK

> Search Remote OK, the remote-only job board, through its keyless public API. One step: leave the filters empty for the newest remote openings, or narrow them by keyword, tag, company, location, stated pay or how recently a job was posted. Tags come from a list of what the board is actually using, each job's description arrives as plain text rather than HTML, salaries come formatted, and every result carries the link back to the posting that Remote OK's terms ask for. No account or API key is required.

## Actions

### Search jobs

Search Remote OK, the remote-only job board. Every filter is optional: leave them all empty for the newest remote jobs, or narrow by keyword, tag, company, location, stated pay and how recently the job was posted. Remote OK serves its hundred newest postings in one answer, and the tag filter is the one narrowing it does itself, so choosing a tag is what reaches further back: the hundred newest postings carrying that tag rather than the hundred newest overall. Each description comes back as plain text rather than HTML, and each job carries the link back to its posting that Remote OK's terms ask for.

**Inputs**

- Keywords (`keywords`, text): Words the job has to contain. Every word must appear, but it can appear anywhere in the posting: the title, the company, the location, the tags or the description. Leave empty to skip keyword matching.
- Tags (`tags`, list): Only return jobs carrying every one of these tags. This is the one filter Remote OK applies itself, so it reaches further back than an unfiltered search. Because a job has to carry all of them, each tag added narrows the answer sharply; two is usually plenty. The list offers the tags the board is using right now, with how many jobs carry each. Leave empty for every tag.
- Company (`company`, text): Only return jobs whose company name contains this text, matched case-insensitively. Leave empty for every company.
- Location (`location`, text): Only return jobs whose location contains this text, matched case-insensitively. Every job here is remote, so this is the hiring region or timezone a posting is tied to, and about one posting in ten names none at all and is left out when this is set. Leave empty for everywhere.
- Pay at least (`salary_min`, number): Only return jobs whose stated pay reaches this figure at the top of its range. Open salaries are what Remote OK is known for, but only a minority of postings actually carry one, and setting this leaves the rest out: set 0 to get every job that states any pay at all, whatever the figure. Remote OK does not say whether a figure is hourly or annual. Leave empty to include the jobs that state nothing. From 0 to 10000000.
- Posted in the last (days) (`posted_within_days`, number): Only return jobs posted this many days ago or less, counted from when the step runs. That makes it safe in a scheduled workflow: set 1 and a daily run sees only what appeared since yesterday, every day, with nothing to keep up to date. Leave empty for everything the board returned. From 1 to 365.
- Number of jobs (`max_results`, number): How many jobs to return, from 1 to 100. Remote OK serves its newest hundred postings in one answer, so 100 is everything it has to give. Defaults to 25. From 1 to 100. Default: `25`.
- Description length (`description_characters`, number): How much of each job's description to return, as plain text with the HTML removed, up to 20,000 characters, which is the whole of all but the longest postings. Set 0 to leave descriptions out entirely when a step only needs titles, pay and links. Defaults to 600. From 0 to 20000. Default: `600`.
- Show in the run (`output_detail`, text): How much of each job to print into the run output for a person to read. Every job that was returned is listed either way, however many that is: the number of jobs above decides that, not this field. 'One line each' gives the job, the company, the place, the pay if it is stated, how long ago it was posted and the link; 'Every field' adds the tags, the exact posting date and the description. This only changes what is displayed, never what is saved: a later step sees the same data whichever is chosen. Defaults to one line each. One of: `summary` (One line each), `full` (Every field, over several lines each). Default: `summary`.

**Outputs**

- `jobs` (list)
- `keywords` (text): The keywords that were searched.
- `output_detail` (text): Which of the two display choices the step ran with, 'summary' or 'full'.
- `result_count` (number): How many jobs are returned.
- `scanned_count` (number): How many postings Remote OK returned to look through.
- `tags` (list): The tags Remote OK narrowed on, lower-cased.
- `terms` (text): Remote OK's API terms, which ask for a followed link back to the posting and a credit to Remote OK as the source.
- `truncated` (true/false): Whether the result limit was reached with matches left over.
