### Check service status

Check whether the Studio Ghibli API is answering, and how quickly. This is the one action that reports a problem as a value instead of failing the step, so a workflow can decide what to do about it. Being asked to slow down is reported separately from being down. No API key required.

### Get a film

Get one Studio Ghibli film by its title, its Japanese or romanised title, its id or its URL: the plot, director, producer, release year, running time, Rotten Tomatoes score and poster, plus every character, species, place and vehicle the catalogue links to it, each with its name and id. No API key required.

Get one Studio Ghibli location by name, id or URL: its climate, terrain, how much of it is water, the characters who live there (where the catalogue has recorded them) and the films it appears in. No API key required.

- Released from (year) (`released_from`, number): Only films released in this year or later. From 1900 to 2100.
- Released up to (year) (`released_to`, number): Only films released in this year or earlier. From 1900 to 2100.
- Sort by (`sort_by`, text): The order to return the films in. One of: `release_year` (Release year, oldest first), `newest` (Release year, newest first), `title` (Title, A to Z), `rt_score` (Rotten Tomatoes score, highest first). Default: `release_year`.
- Maximum results (`limit`, number): How many rows to return at most, from 1 to 250. The catalogue is small enough that the default returns everything. The service's own limit does nothing, so the cut is made here. From 1 to 250. Default: `50`.

### List species

List the species of the Studio Ghibli worlds: humans, cats, deer, spirits, gods, dragons and Totoros, each with its classification, the eye and hair colours its members have, every character that belongs to it and every film it appears in. Narrow to one film. No API key required.

**Inputs**

- Film (`film`, text): Only rows from this film. Pick one, or type its title, its Japanese or romanised title, its id or its URL. Leave empty for every film.
- Maximum results (`limit`, number): How many rows to return at most, from 1 to 250. The catalogue is small enough that the default returns everything. The service's own limit does nothing, so the cut is made here. From 1 to 250. Default: `50`.

**Outputs**

### Pick a film

Pick a Studio Ghibli film at random, or give a date to get the same pick all day: a 'film of the day' post then reads the same however many times the workflow runs, and the pick for any past date can be reproduced. Narrow the draw to one director. No API key required.
