Digimon API

App · Film, TV & Fandom · 16 actions

Look up Digimon using the free, keyless Digimon API (DAPI): search the encyclopedia by name, level or attribute, get a Digimon's full record or a flattened profile ready to post, draw a random one, trace an evolution line out to its branches, compare two Digimon, and browse the levels, attributes, types, fields and skills behind it all. No account and no API key required. Disclaimer: this is an independent integration with the community-run Digimon API (digi-api.com). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bandai or Toei Animation; Digimon and all related names, characters, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Actions

ActionWhat it does
Compare two DigimonPut two Digimon side by side and say what they have in common: the levels, types, attributes and fields they share, and any evolution that appears in both their lines.
Get a DigimonGet everything the encyclopedia records about one Digimon: its artwork, every level, type, attribute and field it belongs to, its release year, its reference-book profile in English and Japanese, every skill it attacks with, and what it evolves from and into.
Get a Digimon's profileThe same Digimon, flattened to the handful of fields a post, a card or a message actually needs: name, artwork, levels, types, attributes, fields, release year, skill names, evolutions, and the reference-book text in one language.
Get a fieldGet one field by name or ID, along with the emblem image that goes with it, so a post or a card can show the faction a Digimon fights for rather than just naming it.
Get a levelGet one evolution stage by name or ID, as the encyclopedia records it.
Get a random DigimonPick one Digimon at random out of the whole encyclopedia and return its full record.
Get a skillGet one attack by name or ID, with its description and name translation.
Get a typeGet one creature type by name or ID, as the encyclopedia records it.
Get an attributeGet one attribute by name or ID, as the encyclopedia records it.
List attributesList the attributes a Digimon can carry, the Vaccine, Data and Virus triangle and the ones outside it.
List fieldsList the fields, the factions the card game groups Digimon into: Nature Spirits, Nightmare Soldiers, Jungle Troopers and the rest.
List levelsList the evolution stages a Digimon can be at, from Baby through Child and Adult to Ultimate, plus the off-ladder ones like Armor and Hybrid.
List skillsSearch the attacks Digimon use, each with what it does and, where the encyclopedia has one, the translation of its Japanese name.
List typesList the creature types the encyclopedia sorts Digimon into, from Insect and Dragon to Holy Beast and Machine.
Search DigimonSearch the Digimon encyclopedia by name, level, attribute, or whether a Digimon carries the X-Antibody, and get back a page of matches with each one's ID, name, and artwork.
Trace an evolution lineFollow a Digimon's evolutions outwards and return everything the walk reaches, grouped by how many steps away it is.

Compare two Digimon

Put two Digimon side by side and say what they have in common: the levels, types, attributes and fields they share, and any evolution that appears in both their lines. Both profiles come back whole, so a step can report the differences as easily as the overlap. Useful for a matchup post, a quiz, or deciding whether two Digimon are related at all.

Inputs

First DigimonfirsttextRequired
The first Digimon's name or ID.
Second DigimonsecondtextRequired
The second Digimon's name or ID.

Get a Digimon

Get everything the encyclopedia records about one Digimon: its artwork, every level, type, attribute and field it belongs to, its release year, its reference-book profile in English and Japanese, every skill it attacks with, and what it evolves from and into. Takes a name or an ID, so a name read from a message or a spreadsheet can be looked up directly.

Inputs

DigimondigimontextRequired
The Digimon's name or ID (for example, Digmon or 299). A Digimon API record URL works too, so an evolution from an earlier step can be followed straight in.

Get a Digimon's profile

The same Digimon, flattened to the handful of fields a post, a card or a message actually needs: name, artwork, levels, types, attributes, fields, release year, skill names, evolutions, and the reference-book text in one language. Saves a workflow digging through the full record for the two fields it wanted. Falls back to whatever language the entry does have and says so, since many entries are Japanese only.

Inputs

DigimondigimontextRequired
The Digimon's name or ID (for example, Digmon or 299).
Profile languagelanguagetext
Which language to return the reference-book profile in. Defaults to English.One of: en_us (English), jap (Japanese). Default: en_us.

Get a field

Get one field by name or ID, along with the emblem image that goes with it, so a post or a card can show the faction a Digimon fights for rather than just naming it.

Inputs

FieldfieldtextRequired
The field's name or ID (for example, Nature Spirits or 2). Run List fields to see them all. A Digimon's own fields can be referenced straight from an earlier step; where one hands over several, the first is looked up.

Outputs

fieldobject
Example output

    "href": "https://digi-api.com/images/etc/fields/Nature_Spirits.png",
    "id": 2,
    "name": "Nature Spirits"
  }
}

Get a level

Get one evolution stage by name or ID, as the encyclopedia records it.

Inputs

LevelleveltextRequired
The level's name or ID (for example, Adult or 2). Run List levels to see them all. A Digimon's own levels can be referenced straight from an earlier step; where one hands over several, the first is looked up.

Outputs

levelobject
Example output
{
  "level": {
    "id": 2,
    "name": "Adult"
  }
}

Get a random Digimon

Pick one Digimon at random out of the whole encyclopedia and return its full record. Narrow the draw to a level or an attribute to keep a daily post, a quiz or a prompt on theme. The pick is made server-side over the matching set, so it is genuinely random rather than a shuffle of the first page.

Inputs

Levelleveltext
Only draw from Digimon at this evolution stage (for example, Adult). Leave blank to draw from all of them.
Attributeattributetext
Only draw from Digimon carrying this attribute (for example, Vaccine). Leave blank to draw from all of them.

Outputs

Search Digimon

Search the Digimon encyclopedia by name, level, attribute, or whether a Digimon carries the X-Antibody, and get back a page of matches with each one's ID, name, and artwork. Leave every filter blank to page through all of them. This is the way in when you do not already know which Digimon you want: narrow here, then feed a result into any of the other actions.

Inputs

Namenametext
Only return Digimon whose name contains this text (for example, Agumon returns Agumon, Agumon (X-Antibody), and the rest). Leave blank to match every Digimon.
Match the name exactlyexacttrue/false
Return only the Digimon whose name is exactly the text above, instead of every name containing it. Use it when a name is a prefix of many others.
Levelleveltext
Only return Digimon at this evolution stage, spelled the way the encyclopedia spells it (for example, Adult or Child). Run List levels to see them all, or reference a level from an earlier step.
Attributeattributetext
Only return Digimon carrying this attribute, spelled the way the encyclopedia spells it (for example, Vaccine, Data or Virus). Run List attributes to see them all, or reference an attribute from an earlier step.
X-Antibody onlyx_antibodytrue/false
Return only the X-Antibody forms, the variants marked (X-Antibody) in the encyclopedia. Leave unchecked to include every Digimon.
Pagepagenumber
Which page of results to return. Pages are numbered from 0, so leave this blank or set it to 0 for the first page.At least 0.

Trace an evolution line

Follow a Digimon's evolutions outwards and return everything the walk reaches, grouped by how many steps away it is. One record only names its immediate neighbours, so this is what turns 'what does Armadimon become' into the whole branch. Choose the direction and how many steps to take; each Digimon is reported once however many paths reach it, and the conditions the encyclopedia records come along with it.

Inputs

DigimondigimontextRequired
The Digimon to start from, by name or ID (for example, Armadimon or 271).
Directiondirectiontext
Whether to follow what this Digimon evolves into, what it evolves from, or both.One of: next (Forwards, to what it evolves into), prior (Backwards, to what it evolves from), both (Both directions). Default: next.
How many stepsdepthnumber
How many evolution steps to follow out from the starting Digimon. Two covers a Digimon and what its evolutions become; the lines fan out quickly, so a deep walk is slow. Up to 4.From 1 to 4. Default: 2.
