Image-Charts

App · Images & Design · 10 actions

Turn data into chart pictures for emails, chat messages and documents with Image-Charts: bar, line, pie, doughnut, radar and scatter charts, sparklines, progress bars, QR codes, GraphViz diagrams and Chart.js charts. Each comes back as a permanent link that shows the picture anywhere an image can go, with an HTML image tag, and can be saved as a file. Works without an account, with a small watermark and up to 10 charts a minute; an Image-Charts subscription's account ID and secret key remove the watermark and raise the limit.

Actions

ActionWhat it does
Create a bar chartDraw a bar chart from labels and one or more series of numbers: vertical or horizontal, grouped or stacked, optionally with each bar's value on it and a prefix or suffix such as $ or % on the numbers.
Create a Chart.js chartDraw any Chart.js 2.8 chart from its configuration: bar, line, pie, doughnut, radar, polar area, bubble or scatter, with the datasets, colours and options Chart.js takes, except JavaScript functions.
Create a custom chartDraw any chart Image-Charts supports from its own parameters (cht, chd, chs and the rest), or from a chart link made in the Image-Charts editor, changing any parameters you give, such as its data.

Create a pie chartDraw a pie, doughnut or polar area chart from labels and their values, with names, values or percentages on the slices, a legend if you like, and text in the middle of a doughnut.
Create a progress barDraw a progress bar filled to a percentage, with the percentage written on it, for a goal, a course or a loyalty status in an email.
Create a QR codeMake a QR code for a link or any other text, up to 4,296 characters, as a PNG or an SVG, in your colours and with the error correction you choose.
Create a radar chartDraw a radar (spider) chart comparing one or more series across three or more labels, one spoke each, such as skills or product scores, optionally shading inside each series.
Create a scatter chartDraw a scatter chart of points given by their x and y values, in one or more series, or a bubble chart when each point also has a size.

Create a bar chart

Draw a bar chart from labels and one or more series of numbers: vertical or horizontal, grouped or stacked, optionally with each bar's value on it and a prefix or suffix such as $ or % on the numbers. Returns a link to the picture that shows it in any email, chat message or document, an HTML image tag, and the picture as a file if asked.

Inputs

LabelslabelstextRequired
The name of each bar, or group of bars, in order, separated by commas (or one per line), such as Q1, Q2, Q3. A list works too.
SeriesserieslistRequired

Horizontalhorizontaltrue/false
Draw the bars across instead of up, the first at the top. Off by default.Default: false.
Stackedstackedtrue/false
Stack several series' bars on top of each other instead of side by side. Off by default.Default: false.
Show valuesshow_valuestrue/false
Write each bar's value on it. Off by default.Default: false.

Colorscolorstext
One colour for each series, as hex codes such as #4E79A7 or names such as navy, separated by commas; with a single series, several colours colour its bars one by one. Anything left over takes a ten-colour palette.
Legend positionlegend_positiontext
Where the legend of series names goes: bottom (the default), right, top or left, or no legend. There is only a legend when a series has a name. One of: bottom, right, top, left, none (No legend). Default: bottom.
Widthwidthnumber
The chart's width in pixels, from 1 to 999. Defaults to 600.From 1 to 999. Default: 600.

Draw the chart growing into place as an animated GIF, for an email or a chat message. Off by default. A GIF is several times the size of the still picture.Default: false.
Also save the chart as a filesave_as_filetrue/false
Off by default, because the link is all an email, a chat message or a document needs. Turn it on when a later step needs the file itself: attaching it to an email, uploading it to storage, or posting it as a file.Default: false.

Outputs

content_typetext
The saved file's type, e.g. image/png, or '' when not saved.
document_reftext
The saved file's document reference, or '' when not saved.
documentslist
The saved chart as a document, ready to attach to a later step. Empty when it was not saved.

The saved file's size in bytes, or 0 when not saved.
file_urltext
A URL that serves the saved file, or '' when not saved.
formattext
What the picture is: png, gif for an animated chart, or svg for a QR code or diagram drawn as SVG.
heightnumber
The height in pixels the chart is shown at.
image_tagtext
The same link as an HTML <img> tag, with alt text and the chart's width and height, for a step that writes an email or a page.
saved_as_filetrue/false
True when the chart was also saved as a file (Also save the chart as a file). The file fields below are empty otherwise.
urltext
A permanent link to the chart's picture, signed when the connection has an Image-Charts account. It shows the chart anywhere a picture can go: an email, a chat message, a document or a web page.

Create a custom chart

Draw any chart Image-Charts supports from its own parameters (cht, chd, chs and the rest), or from a chart link made in the Image-Charts editor, changing any parameters you give, such as its data. The chart is signed with the connection's account, so an editor chart loses its watermark too. Returns a link to the picture, an HTML image tag, and the picture as a file if asked.

Inputs

Chart URLchart_urltext
A chart's link, such as one copied from editor.image-charts.com: https://image-charts.com/chart?... or https://image-charts.com/chart.js/2.8.0?... Any account ID and signature in it are replaced. Leave empty to draw from Parameters alone.
Parametersparametersobject
Image-Charts parameters to set, added to the link or replacing its own, such as {"cht": "bvg", "chd": "a:10,20,30", "chs": "400x300"}. Set one to null to take it out. See documentation.image-charts.com for them all.
Also save the chart as a filesave_as_filetrue/false

The saved file's type, e.g. image/png, or '' when not saved.
document_reftext
The saved file's document reference, or '' when not saved.
