Nager.Date
App · Calendars · 13 actions
Look up public holidays for over 200 countries from a workflow. List a country's holidays for a year or for a date range, get the next one coming up, check whether a particular date, or today, is a holiday, count the working days between two dates with weekends and holidays taken out, find the long weekends a year holds, and see every country's holidays for the week ahead. Holidays that apply only in a state or region are handled properly, so choosing California or Bavaria gives the calendar someone there really keeps. Every action reads: nothing here changes anything. No account or API key required.
Actions
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Check whether a date is a holiday | Check one date in one country and get three plain answers: is it a holiday, is it a weekend day, is it a working day. |
| Check whether today is a holiday | Ask Nager.Date whether today is a public holiday in a country or one of its states, and get back the holiday's name with the answer. |
| Count working days | Count the working days between two dates, with weekends and public holidays taken out. |
| Get a country | Get one country's names and land borders: the name in common use, the official one, the name in its own language, the region it sits in, and every country it shares a border with. |
| Get the API version | Get the Nager.Date build serving the API, and the range of years the holiday endpoints cover right now. |
| Get the next holiday | Get the single next holiday in a country, returned flat so a later step can read the name, the date and how many days away it is without indexing into a list. |
| List a country's regions | List the states, provinces or nations within a country that have holidays of their own, each with the holidays that make it different from the rest. |
| List countries | List every country Nager.Date has holiday data for, with its ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, sorted by name. |
| List holidays between two dates | List every holiday between two dates, whether or not they fall in the same year. |
| List holidays for a year | List a country's holidays for a whole calendar year. |
| List long weekends | List the long weekends a country's holidays make in a year: when each one starts and ends, how many days off it is, and which working days you would have to take off to join it up. |
| List upcoming holidays | List the holidays a country has coming up in the next 365 days, without having to work out which year they fall in. |
| List upcoming holidays worldwide | List every country's holidays in the next seven days, in one step rather than one per country. |
Check whether a date is a holiday
Check one date in one country and get three plain answers: is it a holiday, is it a weekend day, is it a working day. Use it to gate a workflow on whether an office is open, or to decide whether to send something today. Only Public holidays count as a day off unless you say otherwise, and anything else marked on the date is reported separately rather than silently dropped.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.
- Date to check
check_ondateRequired - The date to check. It has to fall in a year the API serves, which is last year through five years ahead.
- State or region
subdivisiontext - Narrow to one state, province, canton or nation within the country, by its ISO 3166-2 code such as US-CA or DE-BY. The list is built from the subdivisions that country's holidays are actually attached to, so pick the country first. Leaving it empty returns everything the country has anywhere; setting it keeps the national holidays plus the ones that apply in that subdivision, which is the calendar someone there really keeps.
- Count these as days off
holiday_typeslist - Which holiday types count as a day off here. Public alone by default, because that is what closes an office: counting Observance entries too would mark Valentine's Day as a non-working day.One or more of:
Public(Public: a public holiday, and a day off),Bank(Bank: banks and offices are closed),School(School: schools are closed),Authorities(Authorities: government offices are closed),Optional(Optional: most people take the day off),Observance(Observance: marked, but not a day off). Default:["Public"]. - Weekend days
weekend_dayslist - Which days of the week are not worked. Saturday and Sunday by default. Set it to Friday and Saturday for the Gulf states, or to Friday alone where that is the rest day, otherwise the count is out by a day or two every week. One or more of:
Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday,Sunday. Default:["Saturday", "Sunday"].
Outputs
country_codetext- The country looked up
country_nametext- Its common name
datetext- The date that was checked
holiday_nameslist- Just their names
holiday_typeslist- The types counted as a day off
holidayslist- The holidays that made it a holiday
is_holidaytrue/false- True when a holiday of the chosen types applies
is_weekendtrue/false- True when it falls on one of the weekend days
is_working_daytrue/false- True when it is neither a weekend day nor a holiday
other_holidayslist- Holidays on the same date that the filters left out, such as an Observance or another region's day
subdivisiontext- The subdivision filter applied, or null
weekdaytext- The day of the week it falls on
weekend_dayslist- The days treated as the weekend

}Check whether today is a holiday
Ask Nager.Date whether today is a public holiday in a country or one of its states, and get back the holiday's name with the answer. Pick the UTC offset of the place you mean so 'today' is their today rather than UTC's. Built for a daily scheduled workflow that should skip a run on a holiday.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.

Leaving it empty returns everything the country has anywhere; setting it keeps the national holidays plus the ones that apply in that subdivision, which is the calendar someone there really keeps.
- Time zone offset
utc_offsettext - The UTC offset of the place you are asking about. Defaults to UTC. It decides which day counts as today, which matters either side of midnight. One of:
-12(UTC-12:00),-11(UTC-11:00),-10(UTC-10:00 (Hawaii)),-9(UTC-09:00 (Alaska)),-8(UTC-08:00 (US Pacific)),-7(UTC-07:00 (US Mountain)),-6(UTC-06:00 (US Central)),-5(UTC-05:00 (US Eastern)),-4(UTC-04:00),-3(UTC-03:00 (Sao Paulo)), and 15 more. Default:0.
Outputs

country_nametext- Its common name
datetext- The local date the answer is about
holiday_nameslist- Just their names
holidayslist- The public holidays falling on that date
is_holidaytrue/false- The API's own answer for today
iso_codetext- The code the endpoint was asked about
other_holidayslist- Anything else marked on that date, such as an Observance

}Count working days
Count the working days between two dates, with weekends and public holidays taken out. Use it for a delivery date, an SLA window, a payroll period or a project estimate. It also hands back which holidays cost a working day and which fell on a weekend anyway, and the weekend itself is a setting, so a Friday and Saturday week counts correctly.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.
- From date
start_datedateRequired - The first day of the range, counted in.
- To date
end_datedateRequired - The last day of the range, counted in. It must be on or after the start date, and the range can cover at most seven years.
- State or region

}Get a country
Get one country's names and land borders: the name in common use, the official one, the name in its own language, the region it sits in, and every country it shares a border with. This is the one action that also answers for a country with no holiday calendar, so it can name a code the holiday actions turn down.
Inputs

Get the Nager.Date build serving the API, and the range of years the holiday endpoints cover right now. Holiday data is corrected and extended in new builds, so this is how a workflow records which build an answer came from, and a one-step check that the connection works.
Inputs
None.
Outputs
first_supported_yearnumber- The earliest year the holiday endpoints serve
last_supported_yearnumber- The latest year they serve
nametext- The library's name
versiontext- The version serving the API

}Get the next holiday
Get the single next holiday in a country, returned flat so a later step can read the name, the date and how many days away it is without indexing into a list. Answers 'when is the next day off' in one step. If nothing falls in the next 365 days it returns found = false rather than failing.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.

national_onlytrue/false - Keep only the holidays that apply to the whole country, dropping the ones limited to particular states or regions. Off by default.Default:
false.
Outputs
country_codetext- The country looked up
country_nametext- Its common name
datetext- The date, as YYYY-MM-DD
days_untilnumber- Days from today
foundtrue/false- False when nothing matches in the window
holiday_typeslist- Public, Bank, School, Authorities, Optional or Observance
is_publictrue/false- True when Public is one of the types
local_nametext- The local-language name, which is null here
nametext- The holiday's English name
nationaltrue/false- True when it applies to the whole country

}List a country's regions
List the states, provinces or nations within a country that have holidays of their own, each with the holidays that make it different from the rest. Use it to find the ISO 3166-2 code a region filter wants, or to see where a country's calendar actually varies. A region with no holiday of its own is not listed, because for it the country's own calendar is the whole answer.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.
- Year
yeartext - The calendar year to look up. Defaults to this year. The list holds exactly the years the API serves, which is last year through five years ahead; it moves with the calendar, so use the refresh button beside the field if a new year is missing.
Outputs
countnumber- How many there are
country_codetext- The country looked up
country_nametext- Its common name
national_holiday_countnumber- How many holidays apply to the whole country

}List holidays for a year
List a country's holidays for a whole calendar year. Narrow to a state or region, to a month, to a name, or to the holiday types you care about, and each holiday comes back with the date, the weekday, whether it applies nationally and which regions it applies in. Choosing a state keeps that state's own holidays alongside the national ones, which is the calendar someone working there actually keeps.

name_containstext - Only holidays whose name contains this text. Case and accents are ignored, and the local name is searched as well where the data has one. Use it to answer 'when is Easter Monday next year' without reading the whole list.
- Month
monthtext - Only holidays in this month. Leave empty for the whole year. One of:
1(January),2(February),3(March),4(April),5(May),6(June),7(July),8(August),9(September),10(October),11(November),12(December).

}List long weekends
List the long weekends a country's holidays make in a year: when each one starts and ends, how many days off it is, and which working days you would have to take off to join it up. Raise the bridge-day budget to find the longer breaks a couple of days of leave would buy. This endpoint reaches fifty years either side of today, further than the rest.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for.
This list reaches fifty years either side of today, because the long-weekend endpoint covers more years than the holiday endpoints do.
- Bridge days you can take
available_bridge_daysnumber - How many working days you are willing to take off to join a holiday to a weekend. One by default; raising it finds longer breaks. From 1 to 100. Default:
1.
Outputs
available_bridge_daysnumber- The bridge-day budget that was used
bridge_day_countnumber- How many bridge days that would take
countnumber- How many there are
country_codetext- The country looked up
country_nametext- Its common name
long_weekendslist- One entry per long weekend, earliest first
total_days_offnumber- Every day off across all of them
yearnumber- The year looked up

}List upcoming holidays
List the holidays a country has coming up in the next 365 days, without having to work out which year they fall in. Every holiday carries how many days away it is, so a scheduled workflow can act a fortnight before one. Narrow it to a state or region and to the holiday types that matter.
Inputs
- Country
countrytextRequired - The country to look up, chosen from the countries Nager.Date has holiday data for. The list is fetched from the API itself, so it is always current. A value from an earlier step can be a two-letter code such as 'DE' or a name such as 'Germany'; common alternatives like 'UK' and 'USA' work too.
- Holiday types
holiday_typeslist - Only holidays of these types. A year's list is not only days off: it also carries School, Optional and Observance entries, and an Observance such as Valentine's Day closes nothing. Leave it empty for every type, or pick Public for the days that are actually holidays. One or more of:
Public(Public: a public holiday, and a day off),Bank(Bank: banks and offices are closed),School(School: schools are closed),Authorities(Authorities: government offices are closed),Optional(Optional: most people take the day off),Observance(Observance: marked, but not a day off). - National holidays only
national_onlytrue/false - Keep only the holidays that apply to the whole country, dropping the ones limited to particular states or regions. Off by default.Default:
false. - How many to return
limitnumber - How many holidays to return, earliest first. Defaults to 50, which is more than any country has in a year. From 1 to 365. Default:
50.
Outputs
countnumber- How many are returned
country_codetext- The country looked up
country_nametext- Its common name
dateslist- Just the dates, ready to feed a later step
holiday_typeslist- The type filter applied, empty when every type is kept
holidayslistmatched_countnumber- How many matched before the limit
national_onlytrue/false- Whether subdivision holidays were dropped
subdivisiontext- The subdivision filter applied, or null
total_countnumber- How many the window holds before filtering
window_daysnumber- How far ahead the endpoint looks, in days

}List upcoming holidays worldwide
List every country's holidays in the next seven days, in one step rather than one per country. Use it to tell a global team who is off this week, or to hold a send that would land on a holiday somewhere. Narrow it to the countries you operate in. These records carry the local-language name as well as the English one.
Inputs
- Countries
countrieslist - Only these countries. Leave empty for every country with a holiday in the next seven days.
