App · Images & Design · 5 actions
Search NASA's own library of photographs, video and audio: everything on images.nasa.gov, from the Apollo landings to this week's launch. Find material by subject, keyword, NASA center, photographer, place or date; get any item with a ready-to-use link at every size from thumbnail to full resolution; read what is in an album; pull a video's transcript as text; and see how a photograph was taken, down to the camera, lens and exposure. No account or API key is required.

Get a video transcript
Get the words spoken in a NASA video as plain text, ready to summarise, search or subtitle, plus each line with the time it is said. A video with no transcript comes back empty with a note saying so, rather than failing, so this is safe to run over a list of videos.
Inputs
- Item ID
nasa_idtextRequired - The library's ID for the photo, video or audio clip. Every search result carries it as 'nasa_id', and it is the last part of the item's images.nasa.gov address.
Outputs
caption_file_formattext- 'SubRip (.srt)' or 'WebVTT (.vtt)'.
caption_file_urltextcue_countnumbercueslist- Each caption with the time it is said.
has_transcripttrue/false- False when this video has no captions.
nasa_idtextnotetext- Set only when there are no words, explaining why. Empty otherwise.
page_urltexttranscripttext- The whole transcript, one caption per line.
usage_noteobject- How NASA asks that this material be used, and where to read more.
