NBP

App · Accounting & Finance · 9 actions

Official exchange rates and gold prices from Narodowy Bank Polski, the central bank of Poland - the figures Polish invoices, VAT returns, customs declarations and audited accounts are settled at. Convert an amount between any two of the roughly 170 currencies NBP quotes, look up a rate for today or for the day an invoice was raised, and take it on the basis Polish tax law asks for: the rate published on the last working day before. Pull a whole table in one step, chart a rate over time, read the buy and sell prices NBP quotes in table C, and follow the official price of gold per gram, ounce or kilogram. Rates go back to 2002 and gold prices to 2013. No account or API key required.

Get a whole rate table

Get one of NBP's published tables in full - every currency in it, in one step, exactly as published. Table A is the average rates of the convertible currencies, published every working day; table B is the average rates of the less common ones, published weekly on Wednesdays; table C is the buy and sell prices of about eleven major currencies. Every rate is against the złoty. For a rate between two other currencies, use 'Get an exchange rate'. No API key required.

Inputs

Tabletabletext
Which of NBP's three tables to fetch. One of: A (Table A - average rates of convertible currencies (every working day)), B (Table B - average rates of other currencies (weekly, on Wednesdays)), C (Table C - buy and sell rates of major currencies (every working day)). Default: A.
Dateon_datedate
Optional. The day to use the rate from. NBP publishes on working days only, so a weekend or a Polish public holiday uses the last rate published before it - the one still in force. Leave empty for the latest rate.

Outputs

base_currencytext

currency_countnumber
How many currencies were published.
effective_datetext

requested_datetext
The date that was asked for, or empty when the latest rate was asked for. Compare it with the rate's own date to see whether NBP published that day.
tabletext
Which table this is: A, B or C.

Get buy and sell rates

Get what NBP buys and sells a currency at - its table C bid and ask prices, with the spread between them worked out. A different table from the average rates, covering about eleven major currencies, and the one to use when the question is what a conversion actually costs rather than what it is worth on paper. Comes back with the trading date as well as the effective date, because table C quotes the market a day before the prices take effect. No API key required.

Get the gold price

Get the price the National Bank of Poland calculates for gold - the official figure, published every working day since 2013. NBP quotes one gram of pure gold in złoty; this step gives that figure and works out the troy ounce and the kilogram beside it, so it can be compared with any other gold price in the world. Ask for it in another currency and it is converted at NBP's own average rate for the same day. No API key required.

List currencies

List every currency NBP quotes against the złoty right now, with NBP's own name for each and which table it is in. Takes nothing. The step that answers the one thing the others quietly need: a currency is in table A or in table B, never both, and only about eleven have buy and sell prices at all. Use it to check a code before converting, or to give an AI step the list to choose from. No API key required.

Inputs

None.

Outputs

buy_sell_codeslist
Just the codes table C quotes buy and sell prices for - the roughly eleven that 'Get buy and sell rates' can answer for.
codeslist
Just the codes, for checking whether one is in the list.
countnumber
How many currencies there are, the złoty included.
currencieslist
The złoty first, because it is what every rate is quoted against, then the rest alphabetically by code.
table_a_datetext
The day the table A publication this list was read from took effect.
table_b_datetext
The same for table B, which is published weekly and so is normally an earlier day.
table_c_datetext
The same for table C.
