Count events

Count how many events match a search, and return the soonest one. It costs a single request whether the answer is three events or thirty thousand, so it is the cheap check to branch a workflow on: send the digest only when there is something on, or alert someone when a performer adds dates.

Performer slugperformer_slugtext: Optional. Only include events featuring this performer, named by the slug in their seatgeek.com address: the part after the domain and before '-tickets'.
Categorytaxonomy_idtext: Optional. Only include events in this category: sport, concerts, theatre and so on. The list is read from SeatGeek, so it is always the current one.
Subcategorysubtaxonomy_idtext: Optional. Narrow the category further: NBA inside sport, or music festivals inside concerts. Choose a category first; this list is the subcategories inside it. When set, this wins over the category above.
Starting afterstart_afterdate and time: Optional. Only include events starting at or after this moment. Pick a date and time; it is sent to SeatGeek in UTC.
Starting beforestart_beforedate and time: Optional. Only include events starting at or before this moment. Pair it with 'Starting after' to search one window.
Only events with tickets on saleonly_with_ticketstrue/false: Skip events that currently have no ticket listings. SeatGeek lists events before any seller has posted tickets, so this is what keeps a 'go and buy' message from linking to an empty page.Default: false.

Find events near a location

Find events within a distance of a point on the map. Give a latitude and a longitude in plain degrees and a radius in miles or kilometres, and narrow it further by keyword, category, dates or whether tickets are actually on sale. This is the action behind 'what is on near me this weekend'.

Get events for a performer

List every date an artist, team or show is playing. A tour is one performer with many events, so this is what turns 'Vampire Weekend' into their tour dates. Identify them by ID or by slug, narrow it to a state or a country to answer 'are they playing near me', and for a team split it into home games and away games.

Ask SeatGeek what else someone would like: events similar to one or more performers, or to an event, near a place. Each result carries an affinity score, highest first. Location is required and does more than filter: a nearer event scores higher than an identical one further away, so this is the action behind 'you like these bands, here is what is on near you'.

Search SeatGeek's event catalogue (concerts, sport, theatre, comedy and festivals across the United States and Canada) with the filters a search actually uses. Words, where (city, state, country, postcode, or a distance around a point), what (category and subcategory), who (performer or venue), when, and what the tickets cost. Each event comes back flattened, with its venue, its start time, its cheapest ticket and the link to buy.
